Brooke Ence training for the CrossFit Regionals with Tabata Songs, while talking about her love for CrossFit.
Unlike most professional CrossFitters, Brooke Ence found the sport while pursuing her dream of being a professional dancer. After being invited to audition for a Las Vegas show called Le Reve (similar to Cirque du Soleil), which involved rope climbing and other gymnastics movements, Brooke decided to try out CrossFit to “learn the ropes” of such movements and train for the audition. Brooke quickly fell in love with the sport, the community, and the self-competitive nature of CrossFit.
As a rookie at the 2015 CrossFit Games, Brooke Ence won two events (snatch speed latter and clean & jerk) and finished in 14th place.
In this video, Brooke demonstrates a Tabata workout using 8 different movements, and takes a moment to talk about Tabata Songs, Tabata training and her experience with CrossFit.
“Tabata is by far my favorite type of training because I can do it in four minutes!” Ence says with a smile. “I can take the workouts everywhere with me. When you’re on the go, you can do a full bodyweight Tabata workout in your hotel room, at the park or at work and you’ll get a lot out of it.”
Brooke also talks a about her love for the CrossFit community. “When you come to a CrossFit gym, people won’t be judging you or being rude to you or watching you being like ‘Oh my God, what are you doing are you new? Oh, you must be new-‘ No people are pumped. When you have new members come into a gym that means our family is growing and everyone’s excited to have you. They would never want to push you away.”
This workout was filmed in early 2016 at CrossFit The Swamp in Swampscott, MA.
